What paint should I use on the inside of my new light box? Helmsman marine white? I can't find it anywhere. Does any one know where I can get some or have some left over laying around?
Thanks, Steve

Have you checked with a boat sales place? They should carry marine paint in their parts department.

i used chrome spray paint i found at hobby lobby and then put a couple coats of clear coat on my old canopy. worked really well, i could almost see myself in the paint. if you layer this stuff enough it will turn into a mirror(it just takes like 20 coats :P )

ok...i picked up some chrome spray paint from Home Depot and I plan to hit it with the first coat tonight. I just want to be sure I am doing this right. I plan to spray the inside of my light box with several coats of this chrome spray paint and then put a clear coat on it. For the clear coat I bought some claer marien paint. How long (how many days) should I wait after I put the chrome paint to put the clear coat on it? The outside of the box I plan to just put the clear coat on. Should I stain it first? Or should I buy the white marine paint?

I would think you can put the clear coat over the chrome paint between 24 and 48 hours. Probably could wait longer, but likely want to have the clear coat bond to the other layers before it cures fully. I'd just wait until it seems dry.
Especially in a moist environment, the other side should have a coat also to avoid it warping. If you wish to stain, definitely do it befor the clear coat. Certainly isn't going to take a stain afterwards. As far as to stain or not to stain, that's up to you. Test with a piece of scrap to see how a plain clear coat makes it look.
Going to paint my hood soon. Actually re-build and paint the new one.

well here is what i did last night:
1. Applied several coats of chrome spray paint to the inside of the box. I can almost see a clear reflection of myself in it. I am affraid I will lose this shine if I put a clar coat on it so I am thinking of leaving it be as is.
2. Primed the outside with 2 coats of primer then painted it with the same color paint as the room, oil based. One more coat and it should be fine.
