Just a thought to liven up the main page. We could add a bi weekly (+/-) highlight. Where we could highlight a living specimen (good or bad) in a reef giving all the necessary info. A short paragraph version of a news letter. :)

Tank of the month and a specimen highlight are both great ideas. I think that updated news should be included on the front page as well (The first thing I see everytime I come here is the news about the march meeting and its mid may-- not to mention, its difficult to find information about the current meeting because its in multiple places, none of which are easily accessible)
