Has anyone ordered any base rock from HIRocks before?

I am thinking of getting some off ebay next week and want to know if the rock is worth buying.

Is it attractive looking rock does it have alot of crevices and holes as they say it does. How about the golf ball to softball size pieces are they worth it?

I bought a few bocks and really like it. Mine is very holey and has great character. It also seems to blend in with my live rock texture and colorwise better than "Texas Holey Rock". Mine were all large pieces....

This is the same rock that I use to culture and sell. Great rock, a bit more dense that fiji but less that Fla rock. Once its covered w/ coraline and sponges you cant tell the difference from wild rock. I requested larger pieces and some I still have are ~30#. I requested not to get alot of small rubble but the bit that I got was just broken pieces from hte main rocks. what are they getting for it on ebay?

I have also bought from Hirocks, two orders rubble and large pieces. I was pleased with both. I got over 60lbs of rubble, mostly baseball size, for 22.00 plus 32.00 shipping

Ratboy,
With shipping it comes out to be about $1.16 to san antonio. It is cheaper than buying from thier website. Actually that was with them setting the starting bid at 50 bucks per 60lb box of the large pieces with holes. I have seen thier previous auctions end up with cheaper prices.

Actually you touched on a good point. I am trying to add as much base rock and seed it with 20lbs of live rock I have in my tank.
Just trying to do my conservationist part in the hobby. (off tghe soap box now)

Right now I have 90lbs of base rock 20 lbs LR and I need another 60 lbs or so for my 110 gallon tank.
Anyway, I am glad to hear that this product has some good reviews.

I also got some of it and was happy with what I got. The big rocks I ordered ended up being one huge rock (lots of caves) and some smaller rubble. I was happier with the smaller rock order than the larger one, but nice stuff. I heard he was running out of rocks though.

I bought some of this rock too. Now about 6 months later You can hardly tell the difference between that and the figi I bought locally. Mine came out to just under $60 for 60 lbs. The largest piece was just a little bigger than a football.

RatBoy, check with BA if you want to get rid of those large pieces. I think he was looking for a few large pieces for a shark tank.

I had some of this rock a while back. Looks just like Fiji when covered. Great rock and great price.
