I got some coral that had died and washed up on the beech in Hawaii. I thought it would be neat to have in my tank.

Do I need to bleech it or clean it in anyway?

id suggest boiling anything and everything before putting it into ur tank(thats dead stuff of course) get a large pot boiling and then drop it in and let "cook" for at least 30 minutes. everything ive ever collected like that i have used this method and i have had no ill effects.

there may also be other things to try also :)

hope it helps, steve

I have never had any problems with bleach. Chlorine will break down pretty quickly when exposed to air. Just let it dry thoroughly. If it is small enough to boil that is a better option.

Ive brought back sand and coral rubble back from Hawaii and Fla and just dropped them in my tank. As long as you are sure the area isnt polluted Id just drop it in. You'd be amazed what dormant organisms can reappear when you place them back into your tank. Sure there is the risk of parasites but that is always a risk no matter what you are putting in your tank. If you've had it out of the water for awhile and it is dry I'd go with Erik, drop it in....

I too would have probably just put it in there if it had dried out. As far as chlorine, I agree with Prof in that as long as it dries it's not a problem.
