Sorry I have not been that active lately. The last few weeks have been very exciting for me. There is a 99% change that my family and I will be relocating to Charleston, South Coralina! I have been offer an unbelievable job. This coming week the company is flying my family and I out.
My last request is a sign on bonus (not cash) but a 500 gallon reef tank!!!!!!
(just kidding).
If this relocation does go thru my tank will be for SALE! What I would like is to sell all my corals, fish, liverock so many in the club can have some GREAT items. Also the tank hood and stand would be for sale too. I would most likely keep the lights and some hardware.
I will keep everyone updated as I go!
Again thanks for your friendship!
Jim

Great jobs don't come around very often Good Luck and I would be interested in anything in you beautiful tank when it is time to break down, when will you get your new job? You will be missed when you leave. Good Luck Barry

Lets see, all we need is to is charter a plane and we can have a meeting at Jim's house next fall.

Good luck to you Jim. We were living in SC last year. Its beautiful country but the Mexican food sucks and I'm not even going to mention their idea of BBQ. Charleston is a great town. It reminds me of San Antonio in some ways. We spent a long weekend down there for a fishing trip. Great Tuna fishing. A thousand pound bluefin can make your day on the water. One piece od advice, buy a home that is on high ground. You're moving to hurricane alley. There's not much high ground there. There's a reason they call that part of SC the "low country."

When you get a chance, take a trip up to Charlotte (2 -2.5 hrs away) and see Gary and Tommy at Hi-Tides. They sponsor a frag club similar to MAAST. Half my corals came from their frag tank and I was trading them about $100/mo. in frags. They are some of the most knowledgeable reefers at any LFS I have ever been in. Tommy can quote you chapter and verse on every coral in his shop and their prices are generally very good. When you ask Tommy a question about a coral, you had better pack a lunch.

Let us know when you decide to "liquidate" your corals. I want to be first in line for some of the colored Acro's.

Georgann and I wish you and your family the very best of luck and success.

Sorry to see you leave IF you actually take the position. I do not know you very well, but have enjoyed your Tank, meeting at your home and your help on the boards. You will be missed. It feels like we will be losing a resident pro. LOL

Be carefull on your trip, and if you do leave I would love to purchase a coral or 2 and maybe a fish from your tank. They would be a prized possesion for sure.

Good Luck

Well all I can say is good for you Jim and bad for us. Your tank has been an inspiration for me, to get more corals and a BIGGER tank. If you do go I wish you the best of luck! I know everyone would be honored to have any of your corals. including me. Everything would go to great homes.

Jim -
We will all miss you greatly if you leave, as your friendship with the club has been incredible. Whatever town and company you end up with will be lucky to have you. I wish you and your family all the best in your new endeavors.

Chris

PS - I'm sure you will have plenty of interested buyers of items from your tank judging from the two frag fests you have held at your house during previous club meetings! I would love to get a colony or two if possible when/if you decide to sell things off.

You will definately be missed by the club. Hope you stay in touch and don't forget all of us here at MAAST if you do go. :(
If you do go put me in line for some of your SPS also and I can hopefully help offset some of those moving costs. :D
Best of luck to you in whatever decisions that you and your family make.

Hes not kidding either ... about the lunch and knowledge. Corals are nice, but pricey.

Congratulations on the Job offer Jim. I have some family from Charleston, SC and it is a very beautiful and cool town. Kudos again! I have to say it feels like we are gonna loose our MAAST Mascot tank, but your offer for selling off your tank is very generous and the club will benefit greatly. Oh and BTW, DIBS on any wicked colored zoo's and rics!!! :-D

Jimbo, if you need any help just give me a call. Now that you've let the cat out of the bag, I guess we'll have to just send pictures now. I hope you help to inspire SC as you have us. I had a great time build tanks with you and going through all our transitions from Skilters to refugiums..LOL... Anyway, stay with the group and keep in touch. We can always ship back and forth.

I thought coral reefs were protected in the United States. Shouldn't your tank be protected under the endangered species act or something? You probably have things that have evolved in there that cannot be found anywhere else!

Seriously though, some of the corals you gave me are some of my favorite things in my tank. If you go we'll miss you.

Jim,
I wish I would have met you sooner because I feel that after meeting you at your house my tank took on a whole new dimension with the inspiration you gave to me. Thanks for all the frags and ESV products. Now who am I supposed to get my B-ionic from? I have been in Houston all day touring the LFS stores there and I while I was there the word reached me of your possible move. I wish you the best of luck and I know your new tank will be awesome, I am sure we will all see it as Reef Central’s tank of the month. Since everyone else is placing orders I would love to buy your ricordea that we were going to trade frag for frag. And any other ricordea and zoos that may be available and some more B-ionic too. I will also offer to ship frags of it back to you once your new setup is established, as I hope everyone else would do also. Thank you for all you have done for MAAST and if you do move I hope you visit often.

I'm one of those who was only able to benefit from your knowledge online, but I will definately second the sentiments offered by the others. Thanks for all the great advice (via this forum) and all the wonderful pictures. Best of luck in your move, whenever that takes place... I would love to come and take advantage of your "take-down" party and get some zoos, mushrooms, and anything else I can safely fit in my tank! Thanks again! Moonrs

Let's see, now that you and prafferty will be in the Carolina's, maybe we should form a Carolina's chapter of MAAST. Maybe we can franchise MAAST.

Yeah, I can't imagine prices for beach front property. When I was in Boca Raton Florida I drove along Ocean Blvd. up the coast awhile and it was incredible. Sitting on the beach and listening to the ocean was awesome! Nothing like our little Gulf of Mexico :-)

Jim, I am so happy for you and your family as you deserve the best. On the other hand I'm still sitting here in a state of shock. Having known you for the time I have I treasure your friendship and only hope for the best for you.

Now I'll have to figure out a way to pick up those "other" frags we talked about.

BTW, make em' set you up a bigger tank. ;~)

I'm sorry to hear that you have to move. Please let me know if you need help moving. Usually a $999.99 value, yours for free. I'm only available during the weekday though. Please let me know ahead of time, I'm alternating between San Marcos and Houston. And I don't have internet access at home in San Marcos.

Best of luck Jim! I'd love to live near the ocean. Think of all the collecting you can do - and natural sea water for water changes too! Let me know when you look for a house. I work for DHI Mortgage(DR Horton company) and I can call some folks to let them know you're coming. Not sure if I can get them to cut you any deals but I can threaten that their computers won't work if they don't treat ya nice! ;)

I'd also love to buy a frag or two also when you break everything down.

Thanks,
-Mike
