Well, as a suprise bday present, my wife brought me a red open brain, and a gorgeous one at that. Fast forward 2 days later, i come across a "reef safe" emperor angelfish, juvenile. I bought him. I put him in the tank, come back 15 mins later and he looks like Hannibal having a snack. I pulled the brain and put it in the fuge temporarily. The store agreed to take the angel back, but I cant catch him. Any hints or ideas?? I have tried feeding and netting but hes too smart. I even tried luring him with fresh brain but hes still too smart. HELP!!!

oi!

from all the reading I have done on wet web media, they reccomend lowering the water level in the tank if at all possible, giving the fish less places to go... don't know if that is feasable for you.how about putting the brain coral in a jar (if it will fit) and luring the angel in, then dump angel into bucket, place brain in tank... I know you said luring, but you know, take a lesson from the mantis trap maybe?

they sell a fish trap that works good i hve caught about 4 fiah out of my system, put food in it then close the door when the fish go inside to eat, you can leave it in untill they get used to it

Hey sorry man. Sounds like you got the cousin to my bicolored blenny. He, BTW, is going to be trapped tonight and free to a good home. Actually, don't care if its a good home, just some other home other than my home. He eats purple montipora, pink birdsnest and hot pink poccilopora. Would be good in with softies and lps tanks or fish only. Just starting to get his stripes too.

For the angel, get a good sized clear sheet of plexiglass from HD. Feed him in the front of the tank and slide the glass in to trap him up front in the corner. he probably won't run from the glass and then you can catch him. Of course you have to have some kind of slot in the top of the canopy to insert the glass thru or a partially open top.

how much is the rental fee if you come over and provide the service too?
if you do not have insurance I understand that you would probably not want to provide the service, in which case is there an instructional video that you would be willing to rent?

Ok, thanks for reminding me! My bicolored blenny is now a part of the refugium! My fish trap was a large barnacle shell the he thought looked like home. He just moved downtown. :) My pink coral is happier already. Now I can have a pink birds nest!

I usually have the best luck at catching them at night when they're less active.

Wait till its dark outside and in room, hit tank lights real quick while fish is swimming out and then hit them with the beam from a high output spotlight - piece of cake to net.

LoL - blinded by the light - there isn't much room in my tank for wielding a net. The finger over the barnacle worked great while he was sleeping.
