Depends on how bad it is. How long have you had it? If you've had it for awhile and can't get rid of it with more water flow or less feeding, Chemi-Clean would be the next thing to try.

Red (Cyano) algae is usually present in a tank to some degree. I would look at it as an indication of some other problems, primarily excess nutrient.

In addition to what was already mentioned, I would look at increasing your flow to prevent dead spots, make sure you are aggressively skimming, and not over feeding.

First off need to figure out exactly what it is in order to treat it. If it is a red slime, called cyano bacteria, then chemi-clean can be used, within a day it will be gone, for at least a month or so.

If it is an algae then livestock that feeds on it can be used, or even manual removal.

If you tank is still new, within a few months, this is normal. Just let the tank run its course and within a few months all will settle and algaes will slowly decay. It is normal to have outbreaks every once in a while, due to excess feeding, bad lighting, or some other nutrient that is feeding it.

Do some research and figure out exactly what it is and then look for ways to reduce/rid your tank of it.

All good sites with forums and a search button, and even try the MAAST search button too. Plenty of information to be sought.
