I setup my 75gal RR 3 weeks ago. I purchased a AP tap water filter ( Yes I know now stupid move ) anyway I tested the water output in the beginning. Everything was fine. at about 30 gal I tested again and the ammonia was at 1 ppm. I stopped filling the tank. removed about 10 gal ( I should have removed all of it )and got ro/di water from one of the express water places. I waited a few days for the sand storm to settle and move some live rock and sand that I had in nano in to the tank. The water this whole time has had a reading for about .5 ppm of ammonia. On the live rock was a mushroom and it seems to be doing better then ever. Should I just wait and let then tank do its thing or should I start with small water changes to help remove the ammonia that was intoduced by the tap water? My hunch tells me to wait it out. But I have been wrong many times before.
I have a 3 inch sand bed. I added 20 lbs of live sand. 2-250W MH 10K XM'S
Wet dry with bio balls (Going to replace balls with live rock next week)
Skimmer
Thanks
Bill
