They're only reef safe if their the only things living on the reef. Pretty sure they'll eat just about anything other than corals/cllams, but not sure about the clams. How long have you been keeping this cuttlefish? I know they have a pretty short life span, alot like octopus. Also what temp do you have to keep your tank at? What do you feed it? I've always wanted to have one, and I know there are some pretty small ones available. I've seen them for sale online before at www.liveaquaria.com, but it doesn't look like they have any right now.

Doubt it would bother corals but any crustaceans or fish are fair game. No idea on snails - I know some octopus have a radula they can poke a hole in the shell to get to the critter.

A pretty good site for cephalopod information including cuttles is www.tonmo.com . Also there is a guy on reefcentral with the screenname 'lefty' who has been keeping cuttles with some success you may look for his threads or send him a PM>

I wouldn't reccomend putting the cuttlefish in a reef, depending on what you feed it, if it doesn't have to look for food, it won't rearrange your corals looking for inverts and fish. And if it inks for any reason and your corals ingest it, good luck reviving them. For really good information on keeping cuttlefish, look up the UTMB in Galveston. I have more info if you're interested. They can live for a good while under proper care especially if you aquire them as juvies. Their life is shortened greatly however, if you breed them. Then their life span is roughly 2 yrs.

I wonder if people would live longer if they didnt have kids to stress them out as well. :-p
