Yes it will work. Not the best skimmer, but certainly better than nothing and they do a fair job.

Frogguy I have a skimmer that I will let go cheap. It came off a 55G Tank I dont know anything about it. I have been told it is a good one for the money 100$$ New. I'll take 40$ for it. Comes with the powerhead to runit. Hang on the back of tank type skimmer. Let me know. It might be the same your friend has. Dont know.
