Yes, the material that you remove with the tooth brush is most likely dead material and is only slowing the curing process. Scrub the LR in a bucket full of SW to remove this dead material then return it to your curing tank. Doing frequent water changes will also probably help a lot. When your ammonia readings are down to zero it can be placed in your main tank. Depending on the quality of your LR this can take a couple of weeks. Anyone else have any suggestions?
