The March metting is coming up quickly!
It will be held on Sunday, March 21 at 2pm. The location will be Gator's (Rooster on the site) home in Southwest San Antonio. I will get the address and post it soon!
This meeting will have the first section of Larry's and Gary's water chemistry seminars. They will be discussing calcium, pH, alkalinity, and touching a bit on magnesium.
I am told that, if all goes well, we will be having an AWESOME raffle item for the meeting, as well! We will wait to make sure that it comes in before we post what it is, but WOW! I am bringing lots of extra cash for raffle tickets!
I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. This one will be a must hear for those with chemistry questions!
E-mail or PM me if you have any questions!

Cyano is in everyones tank. This bacteria has been around since the start of time. If you don't want to see it keep good water ciculation with no "dead spots" and pristine water. Sand sifting critters will keep it off the sand and lots of little critters crawling around will keep the rocks clean. Try a couple hermits, cucumbers, nassarius snails, turbo snails, emerald crabs, and so on. If this fails use Chemi-Clean to knock it out. You have have excellent water quality and still have cyano.

The topic of this meeting is going to be limited to calcium and buffer/pH. Cyano is usually a result of phosphate & TOC issues. We'll cover those and other topics in the workshop. I hope to get the details of the workshop worked out at this month's meeting.

The meeting is quickly approaching! This Sunday, March 21 at 2 pm. Here are directions to Gator's home. He did not give us the address because MapQuest pulls it up very wrong - gets you on the wrong side of town!!!
Gator's house is on the access road of 410 between hwy 16 south (towords Poteet) and Zarzamora. It is directly across from Palo Alto College. It is the first business you come to on the right, it is Dodson House Moving. There are a lot of houses for sale, Gator lives in the house with the trees around it. It is easy to find. If you get lost, his cell is 889-7865.
There will be some Door Prizes for a few of the lucky ones who attend, as well as some great raffle prizes! There will be 2 ph monitors, 2 blue line lights, some calcium, phytoplex, and some iodine. And there are a few more Gift Certificates to Aquatic Warehouse that will be given away, as well!
This meeting we will begin to learn the basics of water chemistry, as well as have a great chance to chat with each other! I hope to see everyone at the meeting! This will be a great educational session!
Questions? PM me!

Does anyone have access to an overhead projector and screen that they can bring to the meeting. We're going to have a few overheads to go along with the talk.

"Overheads?" Wow, high tech, at least for us old guys. You might have better luck just setting up a powerpoint presentation, that's what today's movers and shakers do! Looks like I may be able to make it to this one after all, but probably not for too long. Just long enough to win the raffle! Actually, I'm looking forward to your talk.

A fencing tournament. How do they do that, is it a timed even per foot of fence put up or does style come into play like chain link, wood etc. J/K
Didn't even know they had that around these parts.

naw - at fencing tournements they see how much stolen goods you can sell in a set time limit without getting caught..... :D
JK! I used to fence at UT. It was a blast but I can imagine tournements aren't a lot of fun if you're not participating.
Man - sorry I'm going to miss this one too. Last couple of times it's been hard to get down to SA.....

Chris,
I emailed the slides to Misti for safe keeping. I also included a good article by Randy Holmes Farley that I used as a reference in putting the talk together.
