I was feeding yesterday evening and noticed this come from behind a rock. It crept along just as a starfish would and when it came to the edge of the rock, it lifted an arm and it had the exact tentacles as a star would. It appears to be in some sort of developmental stage. I have done some searching on the internet and come up with nothing. Can anyone help me out with this? Sorry for the blurry pic - it moves quite quickly and I'm not the best picturetaker. Its the small white thing on the side of the rock faving you.
Thanks,
Jenn

Unless you see him grazing on coral most Asterina stars are HARMLESS. Don't buy into the reeftard hysteria and mythology that crops up daily in this hobby.

I have several in my tanks and I usually see them on the glass when the lights
come on in the AM. Apparently they are grazing on algae on the glass. I have
heard they are detrimental to corals but have never heard anything authorative on
the subject. Does anyone have any good links on these stars?

I have a bunch of these and they don't cause any problems. I think there is a bad version of them but I have not encountered them.

Thanks Mike, Gary, and Dave. I can't seem to find him right now, but I don't notice any harm to my corals either so I will just keep checking on the situation. Gary, that's an interesting article and pic. Good way to get rid of these guys.

Jenn,
I would be willing to bet that if you have seen one that you have a bunch more.
Check your tank at night with a flash light.
