Need help!
I have a space (rare in my tank) for a coral about 1/2 up in my tank right under the brace. On the brace there are 3 65 watt PCs for lighting. I am looking for a coral (colorful) to fill that spot. The space is about 8 inches around. LFS or softie is what I am thinking?
Thanks,
Jim

A toadstool leather (Sarcophyton) would do well under PC's. Its extremely hardy.

Good idea Joshua...I got a small yellow toadstool from Aquatic Warehouse (posted in my gallery) and it does stand out. If I could frag it Jim, I would for you! But he's a baby himself. Starting to grow fast tho.

Jim has several toadstools, but not sure if you have a golden. A lower light area might also be good for mushrooms, especially hairy mushrooms (Rhodactis). I had originally thought about something like a cateseye bubble coral, but it may be a little to aggressive for the surrounding SPS. Also, montiporas will do OK under lower light conditions. They won't grow as fast as they will under MH's but they will grow. I have had M. digitata under VHO's that have done well.

You might want to consider moving one of your Monti's there and make room for another SPS somewhere else.

How about a big red or green favite brain coral?

Maybe find a cool smaller Echinophyllia or buy a few small Acanthastrea polyps and let them grow. Both are neat, somewhat rare and usually colorful and hardy LPS.

Jim, you'll want to be careful with Sarcophytons; some have pretty strong chemical defenses that could casue a problem in your packed SPS tank. Maybe a capnella sp.? It's another attractive soft coral, with far lower chemical aggression.

If that doesn't work, how about a sunken ship? :-D

One of the Euphyllia would be great under this condition. I have a Frog Spawn (Euphyllia divisa)that is green with pink tip. I only have one polyp of this coral. Once it grow some, I am happy to frag him for you.
