Henry, to me it looks to be one of the species of plating montipora. It's interesting the small openings in the surface of the coral though that give it almost a sponge like appearance.

Henry - it's going to get way too big for your tank. Better let me put it in mine. I'd be glad to let you come see it every once in awhile!

Seriously, looks like some kind of montipora and as JimD said, it should grow fairly well. You should be able to frag it as well.

Henry, that looks like one of those terrible species that could wipe out your tank. I'd definately take if from you to keep that from happening.

I don't remember where my friend got it, hopefully he will see this and post the answer. I'll try to get some extreme close-ups so everyone can get a good look and decide if they want a frag.

Hmm. I belive the coral is a Montipora Aequituberculata.

You guys are all way off...That is a burgandy birdsnest in a small green flower tube. Oh, and the big pink thing next to it looks pretty cool too.

:lol: Hmm... you just dont see many corals with that exceptionall color! WOWI was at the lfs today getting some drygood and I saw an exact match to this coral there ... it had a screw hole in the bottom. :D
