I just read this article on reefkeeping.com:
http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-03/hcs3/index.htm
it says in there that you can't keep brittle stars, or starfish in general with jawfish. Anyone know why?

Because brittle stars will wander into the jawfishes hole, and **** of the jawfish forcing it to make a new home. This adds stress to the jawfish.
The same thing goes for tank with pistol/goby shrimp and brittle stars.
The stars mean no harm, they are just curious :D

Actually, now that I have read the article you are linking to, they are saying that the brittle starfish is a predator of the jawfish.
My above comments still hold true for brittle stars and serpent stars though :).

Yeah, I know why, brittle stars are ambush preditors, they will elevate their main disc over a jawfish burrow and pounce on the jaw when it surfaces... most starfish of the brittle kind are NOT compatible with jaws. There are however, acceptions, be carefull.

does that ban on stars apply only to brittle stars, or for other stars like linkia stars?
