WHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA is all I can say. So now I've got 2 250 watt XM 20K with a 400 watt XM 10K in the middle on my 65G. Looks amazing. Can't wait to see what happens to my corals coloration and growth as a result of this intense addition :-D
Thanks Josh for the Hellolights order!!!

I'm about to do exactly the opposite...I have my 2x250 watt 10ks . I'm ganna put a 400 watt 20k in the middle.
Do you have yours over the center brace?

Ya, the 400 watt 10K is over the center brace by about 6".

Does the center brace get hot?

I would like to know about the center brace too. It was told to me that the intense heat on a glass (center brace) aquarium "could" compromise the silicone and "could" cause the tank to bow.

Hmmm....Yes please let us all know...with a 5 foot tank, id really like to have another halide right in the middle. My center brace is all glass.

Well, I am not running it for very long each day ... don't want to set all my corals on fire :-D I am not concerned about the brace breaking. From the research I have done, center braces breaking due to heat is rare. Also, the 400 watter is only going to be on for 6 hours a day once I get it totally phased in over the next couple weeks. I will keep you all posted.
Josh, I will try and take a few pics tomorrow when they are all on.

I don't think the MH over the center brace does anything for Your corals whatshowever. The glass of the brace will act like a filter and not nuch of the spectrum will remain to do You any good.

PeeJ
Mon, 16th Feb 2004, 10:54 PM
But really...
What are some of the major problems with having a "swimming pool" reef tank in a climate controlled sunroom? other than evaporation....
I think this would be really awesome..you could scuba dive at home!!! it would be swwet!!
