try some microfilament. i remember austin aquariums having some awhile back in huge bundles im sure u can find someplace down there with some. just shove a bunch of that in the filter, problem solved.

hope it helps, steve

Are you using the sponge on the return pipe and an air valve on the air intake? Also, I used to use a square of Polyfilter on the top of the portion where the water spills over into the return chamber along with the entire skimmer filled with Bio-Chem Stars.

i put a valve on it a few mins ago, and also got biochem stars, but not enough. I dont have the sponge though.

The sponge (one with a hole in the middle)and the extra filter square help alot. Just remember to cut down one side of the sponge so that you can wrap it around the return pipe toward the top of the return chamber. This makes it easy to remove and clean from time to time.

Alex, I think I got that sponge at Brittany's apt dude. Can't get it to you till about 8:30 though. I can swing it by your house tonight if you want. Still need to get that container anyway. I never used the sponge cause of the cleanin problems that technomex mentioned but cutting it is a pretty good idea. Never thought of that

just wait for your skimmer to age in.
