As some of you may know, my step son threw a hammer through my brand new Oceanic 140 last week. It got so bad that night, that i got blamed for it, by leaving the hammer in the wrong place(my toolbox in the closet). Anyhow his Grandma came over this week-end and saw how sad i was and decided to buy me a new tank. So the tank is on order.

Like a said it was a Oceanic 140 48x24x28, it is not available at this time "reef ready". So i need some holes drilled and some overflows made, any suggestions?.

I found one pet shop down in South Austin, who would do it, but after looking at some of his work, i have decided i need someone else. I'd even be willing to buy the drill bits and let someone use them for other tanks for drilling mine( we could work it out, you drill the holes i want and you take the bits, beginners need not apply ;) ). the overflows will be 27.25 inches tall, do i need to reinforce them with glass?, i heard that being this tall they flex if they are not reinforced. I would like the overflows to be one piece( can one piece of acrylic be bent 90 degrees or is the corner round?, knowing that how thick should they be? I was thinking 6x8x 27.25. I want a first class job, Any takers?

I"m a gearhead by birth, so i believe there is no subitute for cubic inches, so i need to maximize my available space, I've attched a design that i'm working on. None of the available sumps fit my needs, so I'm hoping Dan will be building me a custom sump soon. I also wanted Matt to build me a Skimmer, but have since changed my mind due to height concerns. I've decided to go with a Precision Marine Bullet 2 with the collector cup. My choice of pumps is still up in the air ( budjet concerns). <-spelled wrong.

I did find two deals on the web, that i should tell you about while i'm at it.

!. AquaticRetail.com has the ETSS 600pro skimmer for sale for $239.99
( it maybe priced wrong), that's $160 less then Marine Depot. I e-mailed them, concerning shipping, they have yet to respond.

2. I found some GENX pcx 40 pumps for $119.00, plus free shipping, that $39 cheaper then Marine depot.

I never did business with either company, it maybe too good to be true.

Anyhow, here a picture of my plan, want do you guys think.

This sump would flow back to front. I will place a shelf over the refugium to allow hanging of lamps, and use the upper portion for top-off water, pumped down to the sump controlled by 2 float switches in series. I haven't left much room for anything else. This is part of the long-term goals plan ( see honey nothing else fits, we need a bigger tank) 8)

I will worry a calcium reactor later.

I was going to hook up my Ro/Di filter to the top-off and control with the float, but i would rather not risk stuck floats and other failures that could cause flooding, it's much safer for me to manually fill the top-off tank

I put the return piping inside the sump to keep the look cleaner, and to make tank connecions shorter and easier to work on.

Wavemaking will be by two tunze pumps and their controller. Returns to the tank will terminated with two loc-line nozzles on each return.

Both heaters are Won Brother digitals. 150w and 300 watts

The lighting is up in the air still. I don't want a canopy, i prefer the look of a couple of pendants hanging over the tank. So I'm leaning towards 2 250 watts HQI DE Sunreef pentants with 250w 20k's. Whatever these lights will grow is what i'm gonna grow.
I don't want the hassles of multple lights or this 80 pound hood, nice clean look, most have proper Feng Shui.
So want do you think i can grow with these lights?, There is a large glass brace on top, so i will place the lights so they are not over the glass

I know this is long post, but i'm bored :D
