It's not the best quality I know... the lighting is poor but it's still decent.

I'll have to play around with it more.

Enjoy!

Holy Bejeevers!!! Hope this isn't in your tank Chris! ;) I have a clicking sound in my tank when lights out - but haven't been able to spot anything. Could this be one of these guys???? :o

LOL! :-D

Where else would I put him Sherri?

Actually he's in his own species specific tank all to himself.

I love this pic... getting ready to pounce on a ghost shrimp.

fishsupply.com

They charge a lot for shipping though so you'll want to make sure you it's worth the order.

Aquatek in Austin often carries different species of Mantis shrimp as well.

This one is easily 5 inches. ;)

can you put them together without killing each other? i wonder if the warehouse can order some? has any one bought them here in town? do they eat frozen shrimp

Chris

They'll eat just about anything Dan but it's good to give them hard bodied food like crabs and snails so they use their raptoral appendages... otherwise they'll grow weak and it could result in some odd molts.

ReefCentral has a forum dedicated to these guys if you're interested. Definately do some research on them first, they're very cool. 8)

And I wouldn't recommend putting two of them anywhere close together.. they'll most definately fight, and in our small tanks it will more than likely be to the death.

Yeah, that's definitely a fight you don't want to get in the middle of!

Chris, I think Loyd's of London can sell you some finger insurance.

Chris, what fish can live with this guy, if any?

Chris

Only the plastic variety Jenn... :lol2:

You can keep fish in there with him, and he "may" not go after them if well fed, but you should consider them expendible if you do.

Aren't these guys highly intelligent?

After seeing those you have me a little worried about my mantis now. I keep checking but so far he hasn't bothered anything I can see. Maybe I need to try to trap him and get him into the fuge.
I know I've seen hundreds of ways to do this but has anyone had good luck with a specific way of catching them.

Can't we all just be friends?

:-o

Sherri, they're fairly intelligent, from what I've read their IQ range rivals that of even an octopus. Josh has a funny story of how smart one was that he had in his tank. Maybe he'll get in here and tell it.
