Jim, how old is that toadstool anyways? Have you had it since it was a baby like the one you gave me?

I think I have that Finger Leather. I got all of Vinh's corals from his tank. He did tell me it was huge when he got it. But it is not near as big now. It has grown some since I got it. Maybe it was the 175 MH he had and I use a 400W. I hope I can get it to that kind of glory in the new tank. He'll have more room in there. I'll try to get a picture.

is it just me or does the center body portion of that leather look realllllly pixelated??

If You are talking about the white one that is the toadstool and yes it is pixelated.

Awesome leather Josh. Vinh was trying to get rid of it a while back when he needed a stand or something made. I think Pete ended up making the cabinet for him, so maybe he has the coral....

BTW, nice PBT also....love those fish

Man, my toadstool leather hardly ever opens up and when it does it only does it for a couple days if I'm lucky and then closes up for a week or so. Any ideas why?

I have Josh's leather. I'm sure. I did get it from Vinh and he did say it was huge when he got it. Sounds like Josh's.

Josh. What type of lighting did you have this coral under? It is now about 24" below a 400w 6500.
It does look a little biger now, but I want it to get back to where you had it.

Jim....your toadstool is one of my favorites out of your tank. I love the way it moves in the current. The frag I got from you at the November (?) meeting disappeared that next morning....never saw it again. Awesome specimen! :D

I ordered a yellow leather online once. It was the saddest leather I have ever seen - ever. I moved it up in the tank (about 15 inches below 400w halide) and put it directly in line of very strong flow. It is doing well, not as yellow as I expcected, but looks very healthy. The other thing that seems to really tick off my leathers is the presence of me. I try not to touch them if I have to mess with the tank, and that helps. Gloves would probably help even more. My leathers seem more sensitive to my hands having been in the water than many of my other corals.

Manny - I bought a small yellow leather at Aquatic Warehouse - it is doing great & growing...and keeping its color. All my leathers will close up and get even shiny about once/twice a week and come back out strong. Isn't this called shedding??
