I grabbed him early this am and finally got to add him to the tank. After the picture he traveled like a foot. I think he was happy to finally be out of the bag.

You didn't touch it with your fingers at all did you? Even when pulling it from the bag?

Are they that sensitive? That is the starfish I want to get.

From what I have been told, Linkia will die after about a week or two if you touch them and get any oils from your skin on them. I have not had much problem with them after I started just dropping them out of the bag like my wholesaler suggested. They are beautiful stars!

No ... never touched him. I followed the acclimation procedures to the "T". He was in a bag with minimal water (didnt leak) and I slowly added to it over 4+hrs. I then took the bag out of the sump and submurged the whole thing never exposing it to air and just let him fall to the sand. Now its traveling all over and hiding. Probably one of the least expensive (12.00) additions that added great color to the tank.

I hope you did your homework on that guy, mortality rate in captive systems is very poor. They do best in very large tanks around 3 - 5 years old, There is no positive concensus as to what exactly the diet is for Linkias. Some say certain types of micro-bacteria, others say micro-algae. Ive tried a couple with no luck. Too bad to, beautifull animals. But I really wish they would stop collecting them...

I did as much reading as one could and I am hoping for the best. He is in an established 100gal so I guess time will tell.
