Joshua,
It is very hard for me to tell for sure. I think it is in the process of developing south fungas. The only way that the clam will live in to transport him north---I say about 100 miles---Round Rock to be exact. I will send someone tomorrow to pick him up,

kidding aside can a 10k light be put over the clam---to see what the mantle looks like?

The colors of the clam thru the glass is awesome! A picture from the top I would like to see! How big is the clam? By chance do you have a mechanical filter on hand? Because sometimes a clam if healthy will have a color change in the mantle before it spawns!!!!!!

Jim.

I'll get him tomorrow when I meet Josh in S.A. Since I live half way between you guys, It may take a while for him to acclimate to the northern temps and barometric pressure changes. I will bring it too you as soon as it stablelizes.. :-D :-D :-D

BTW. Blue would be very cool. Nice looking clam Josh.

:skeezy:

Plus the Fungas that is causing this color change may be contagous. I realy hate to see other livestock be harmed.

Personally...I think RR is TOO far north....pretty cold up there...since I am just north of Josh...I am volunteering - perfect weather conditions...- my squamosa needs a friend... :-D

Josh - I've seen pictures of actual blue squamosas. They are fairly rare but you can find them for a premium price online. As with most photosynthetic animals light, food, flow etc. can all shift an animals coloration drastically in captivity.

I had the same thing happen with my squamosa. I purcahesed it about 9 months ago. It was brown when I got it. Now it looks a lot like yours with the blue and has grown 1 1/2 inches
