Some corals, particularly large polyp stony corals can produce a bud that will 'melt' off and form a new colony. That's my best guess without having a clearer shot - also it could have captured a large prey item and hasn't fully digested it yet - some lps corals are even capable of catching and eating fish and crustaceans though they normally subsist on zooplankton and the products of their zooxanthellae.

Does it look like a little bubble on the coral, if so I've been told that it is the bud that MikeP was talking about and with time will form a new colony. I had one on my Favites for over a year that never did come off, I've recently sold it though.

well what ever it was its gone now, the lights just came on and i cant see it any more which leads me to think it was undigested food, the funny thing about this coral is that is has never extended a polyp in the year ive had it

That is strange, mine used to look like a chia brain when the lights were off. Some of them can be extremely long also.
