I've got a Mag7 running on a SCWD and it's switching faster than I expected.... every 6-7 seconds.

Anyways... this pump is a bit loud, has anyone noticed similar experiences?

My return pump should be here by the end of the week so once I get that hooked up I should have some pretty nice flow going through this 45.

My mags have always been pretty quiet. Then again, they are usually submerged.

Mine is submerged as well... it seems the propellar is causing a lot of noise though. I've already emailed the manufacturer for suggestions because I don't believe it should be this loud. I'm hoping they respond quickly.

When one of mine got noisy I took it apart to inspect it and the shaft was cracked. Have you looked inside?

Here is a chart (http://www.3iqventures.com/literature.html) on the scwd

Mags always make a little vibration noise, but they are good pumps so I just ignore it.

I like them except for the aforementioned noise factor and they seem to put out a fair amount of heat in the water if running submerged - I am using a mag 3 on my calcium reactor.

The mag 5 in my pond worked good for almost a year, and then the impeller cover broke where it holds the top of the impeller centered. It ran like this for a while before I found it when I was cleaning it. The impeller was slightly worn on the bottome of the blades, the motor housing was thinned out a little where the blades were rubbing, and the bottom hole for the impeller was elongated. I put a new cover on it and it works fine, but quite noisy untill its submerged 18" down. The company would have replaced it for free, but I didnt have the original receipt....oh well

I also had a mag 12 running external with no leaks and only a little vibration which you couldnt hear with the stand closed...cs
