Well I went turn my lights on this afternoon and they all fired up except for one. Upon closer examination I found a hairline crack in the bulb itself. I have NO clue what would have caused this! I have only had the bulbs for a month and a half now and got them from HelloLights so I can't figure what would do that. Any info on this anyone? Also does anyone know where I can get a 400 watt XM 20K now? I'll be at the meeting tomarrow too.
Thanks
Chris

Rush,
Bring the bulb to the meeting. I have a brand new one I will swap out with you! Then I will take care of getting a replacement.

IS IT TRUE???? when installing the bulb you need to wipe your finger prints off the bulbs becaue the oils on your hands can cause the bulbs to crack?????

They say you should not touch the bulbs at all. Use a soft towel to screw it in with, or snap it in with DE's.

Yes the oil from your skin can be dangerous. This is the same for halogen bulbs. They just get too hot.

Thanks Jim you are a life/ coral saver!! and yes the oil from your skin will do that. I took that into consideration when I installed them.
Thanks

This concerns me as the last few nights after my new XM's kick off after say 30 minutes or so I hear them clicking, maybe a couple of times. Almost like a cooling down effect I hope. I heard this morning at my LFS someone saying they had heard of the XM's exploding. I realize halides can do lots of things but in all my time with iwasaki's I never had a bulb fail or fail to fire or anything.
Anyone know if I am experiencing normal things??
Glad you got the light you needed Chris.
