Does anyone know of the best way to capture a fish from a tank without having to move all the LR and corals?

I usually drain my aquarium down into a rubbermaid tub ,or similar, to make it easier to catch the fish. Then simply pump your water back into the display tank.

I almost never have any luck. Usually use the pesky fish as an excuse to reaquascape the tank!

It is a orange tail damsel. I dont know why I ever put him in there, but he is super aggressive. I cnat put any new fish at all without him harrassing it.

Get a shark

Seriously though, I had a dottyback I had to get out of my reef. It took me a month. Finally I built a trap similar to

I squirt food into it for a couple of days until he got hungry enough to go in, then...gotcha :-D

Hope it helps,
Jack

Feed him in one corner. Have a tank divider prepared to slip in there between rocks and so on that he can't get thru. Practice beforehand so you know just how to slip it in there real fast. He won't be able to get past that so you can get a couple shots at him with a net. You can make a divider of any configuration with plastic cable ties, nylon screen and eggcrate. If you can train the fish to eat up top in the corner over time, then you can slip the divider in down the tank and angle it under him and trap him up high. The rest is history.

I think the guys at Austin Aquariums have a trap that they loan out to customers.
