We need your help!

MAAST Board of Directors has decided to publish a quarterly newsletter. I volunteered to help with the layout, now I am editor. :-D We are looking for any charter members that want to be part of the newsletter committee. The newsletter would be released on the 15th of every third month. ( April 15th would be the first editions release date)

It would be a booklet style mail out. I am sure we could also post a link so the charter members can download a PDF.

I was thinking on the first page (or half page) we could do MAAST news. Just to let everyone know what’s going on w/ upcoming events and past meetings. Then a couple articles about reefkeeping, and the back page would have a little DIY section.

What would you included? What do you want to write about? Maast news, breeding clownfish, how to monitor your tanks water parameters, DIY rotifer cultures, surge devices, I know with your help this newsletter can be great.

If any charter members want to be on the newsletter committee please let me know.

Thanks,

JimD

Sounds cool, could this be done via email? I might be interested in contributing. Why not an online magazine?

Our members are always posting links to good articles on the net. Why not utilize them as part of the newsletter. I don't think there is a copyriht problem as long as no one makes a profit, and that's not likely.

Sorry about taking so long to reply back guys.

I was preoccupied with getting my 150 ready for water. It took a little over 3 months. The main problem being my blueline pump was on back order for over 2 months. I am very pleased to say nothing leaks. All it needs now is a little tweaking on the standpipes.

JimD we can do it all via e-mail and the newsletter forum. A online magazine is a great idea. The only downside is online magazines require a lot more upkeep than a quarterly newsletter. Club news is the main reason for the newsletter, but it would also give Charter members a extra little perk.

Gary P Adding links is a good idea. . I know if you use the copies for educational purposes it is ok. Have you ever looked at the web links on our board. IMO we have not taken full advantage of this feature. We could really put a bunch of links on it.

Everyone just think about it. We can make this fun.

This project will hopefully get started soon within the coming weeks. We could always use more volunteers to help set things up.

Here is an idea .... this (http://masotc.org/docs/newsletter/MASC_Newsletter_1.pdf) is from the local club here in NC. Its in pdf format so it can be downloaded, read or printed.

Adam, I think helping might be fun, and I will be a charter member as of the 22nd meeting. :)

Adam, sign me up to help. My membership is official as of today. I would be happy to write, edit, proof, whatever. I have computer equipment & software (FrontPage, Word, etc.) and do a great deal of technical writing at work.

I don't have loads of time, but feel free to contact me.
