Hi everyone.

I've been lurking & reading for a couple of weeks and finally decided to post a question, since everyone seems so helpful and easygoing. I've only had my minibow since June, so yeah, I'd say I'm a noob...

My new emerald crab just molted on Tuesday, and I have a couple of questions:

1) Is this a good sign?

2) Should I leave the discarded shell in the tank, or let nature take its course and let it dissolve?

Thanks in advance...

Hey there,
Yes its a good sign and you can go either way with the remains, there may or may not be enough micro fauna to take care of the exo.

It's a good sign. It's natural for em to do it.

Everybody usually says to leave in the moltings but I take mine out cause they always end up getting stuck to my powerheads intake and look ugly.

Welcome to MAAST!

I leave mine in, but, the tank is larger. The only time I take a molt out is if it catches a bubble and could get stuck in an sps.
