I just moved at the end of October and had to move my reef. When I got it to the new house I removed my old wet/dry which I had been using as a refugeium and replaced it with a real one.

So this is fairly new. I had a break out of red slim, and that is sorta disappearing, but I have a film on the water serface, and it clumped up into a strange clear/white slim??

I have had this tank many years and I have never seen this before. I have been doing water changes weekly due to the red slim and I will continue to do so until the tank is more stable.

Any thoughts on what this could be???

It sounds like protein waste accumulating on the surface. Do you have a protein skimmer? You might want to take a good look at how well your overflow is skimming the surface of your tank. The idea is to skim as thin a layer of water as possible from the surface of the tank where the waste concentration is highest. Hope that helps.
