There are a couple of guys on here from Austin that use the diamond tip dremels and just keep the glass wet while they go round and round with the tip. Seems to work, so thats what I plan on doing with several tanks in the next couple weeks. The bit is somewhere around $6 as I recall.

Hey man, here's a good place to buy em online: Diamond Drill Bit and Tool (http://www.diamond-drill-bit-and-tool.com/Diamond-Drill/MAIN.htm). This site has all kinds of information on drilling glass. Really helpful. If you happen to buy the bits you need from there I'll pay you to drill some holes in my aquarium. 5-10 bucks depending on how long the bits hold up?? :skeezy: You'll be makin some money back. You might be able to drill some other people's tanks too if they last long enough.
Oh yeah, Ace might have glass drill bits also. I'm not sure though. The website has a link for glass drill bits but it doesn't work http://shop.store.yahoo.com/shopacehardware-com/tools.html

I was able to drill my 20G using a 1 1/4", $10 carbid tip (I think this is how its spelled) tile drilling bit from Home depot. The hole was surprisingly clean for such a rough drill bit. But if you want to be safe, might as well spring for the extra $20-$30 dollars and get a diamond bit online. Or if you just need to do this once, its probably safer to take it somewhere to get it done.
