Is this a good pump?

I am looking at buying the 3/4hp 4500+ gph pump to run my system, or would this over-drive everything? The tank will have two overflows pre-drilled. Probably will not generate that flow, but I can probably find a use for it by splicing it off into other things. I can also get this for around $150

I have my other Iwaki I could use as well

While I am at it, is this pump any good? Looks like a swimming pool pump to me, probably is.

I use two of the dolphins on my pond. It pushes a TON of water. I'd be afraid to use it on an aquarium.

Those look just like the home depo sump pumps to me that pump 3000 gallons (1/2 and 1/4 horse power) an hour for starting around $89.00.

Blake;

One of the dolphin ampmasters would be ideal for your system, IMO. They work best in a closed loop where there is no head pressure loss. I know lots of people who use them as return pumps; that's fine but you really have to take into account significant flow loss with any sort of pressure.

Actually they don't loose much flow. You are welcome to take a look at my pond and see the waterfalls. I have one that is pretty large and it is about 4 feet above the ground. I beleive it was the amp master 5200.

I should have gotten one for my closed loop. Do they make one that puts out about 1500 gph?

I think so I'll have to look in the catalog. I love the dolphin ampmasters, I've had very good luck with them.

They have a 2100 that runs on 1.3 amp with an 11 ft. head. So if you run it a couple feet from the top of your tank it would probably be 1200-1500gph. Do you want me to order one for you? They are $210 plus shipping so close to what I owe you Matt.

This is where I found it for $150. hehe. Probably too much for me, but that was a great price.
