One of the 1" bulkheads in my oceanic RR tank has a steady, slow leak that I can't get to stop. Anyone have a good trick to seal it better? I don't know exactly where its leaking cause all I really see is salt creep, no actual dripping. Or, anyone have any laying around they want to part with if there isn't any trick I can't use?

Is it the input or drain hole? If it is the input the vibration from a return pump might make enough room to leak a little water and give salt creep. A new bulkhead would probably fix it, but buy a good one.

Sometimes that means there's nothing wrong with the bulkhead, but maybe a little crud on the glass underneath the gasket. If you can drain the overflow, take out both bulkheads, make sure the glass is super clean and both gaskets are not damaged, it really should seal fine. Some people use silicone as insurnace, but I never had to do that.

Clean it off good. Use cooking oil to coat it. Only use oil on thick gasket.
or
Get a new gasket and use cooking oil to coat it. Only use oil on thick gasket.
or
Spread some silicone on the gasket (will be a pain to remove later should you need to reseal.

Just don't overtighten the bulkhead, this can also cause it to leak as well. handtight is best in my opinion

Its the drain (larger) bulkhead. I have redone it twice now by just draining, cleaning, and redoing it. The other 3 seals are fine, so i assume its not just me not doing it right. Probably just need a new bulkhead, but I guess I can drain it one more time and try some silicon.

Pull the bulkhead out its probably cracked in the top portion. they crack really easy.
I had to replace all of mine in the new 150.

make sure the gasket is on the bulkhead side and not on thread side. i have had friends that put the gasket on thread side and water comes around the threads from the outside.

Yeah, gasket isn't on teh thread side, and i can see how that wouldnt work! I'll check it robert, I wouldn't be surprised. Didn't you tell me once that you had them for sale? If so, how much they run?

I cracked my bulkhead trying to fix my salt creep on one of my overflows.
Picked up a new one in stock at Austin Aquariums for 15 bucks.
Tried the silicon first but it didn't take.
