Currently I have an iwaki md-40rlxt for a return on my 215. Its a great pump just a little noisy with the cooling fan. I'm thinking of replacing it with either an ampmaster 3000 or 2100. I don't know which to go with. I also have a closed loop setup with an ampmaster 3000 on that. If I go with 2-am3k's is that too much flow?

Hey Henry is that pump you loaned me? I think it's louder than the iwaki, same model, that I have. But I know what you mean, you can hear them. Supposedly the blueline HD (iwaki knock offs) are quieter. I'm sure you know, unless you change your plumbing you'll lose lots of flow with the ampmaster.

Yeah Matt that is the same pump. My sump has two holes in it. One is 1" and the other is 1.5". Redoing the returns shouldn't be a problem. I think mine is loud because of the cooling fan. I had another model that didn't have the cooling fan and that one was very quiet. Stupid me should have kept that one instead. There is nothing wrong with the pump, it just noticably(sp?) louder and the fact that my tank is in my living room in my little apt, it makes a big difference. When I run just the am3k my tank is almost silent.
