i"m looking for a 400w-20k bulb. i have ballest and socket. just need bulb. i'm running 3-250s now but would like to try a 400w. what do you think?

What kind of ballast Dan? Some ballast don't handle the 20K bulb too well. Also, you might want to mention which kind of 20K bulb you're looking at? (XM, Radium & other stuff out there that I haven't kept up with.)

Dan - just based on my experiences with a 250w DE 20k bulb - they are nice for color but bad for growth. You may get better results with a SE bulb.

Just post the model number of your ballast and some of us might be able to tell you more about it.

Are you saying that the DE 10K bulbs don't promote growth as well as the same make mogule ended 10K like ushio DE vs. ushio mogule base? That runs contrary to what I've heard; I thought the D.E. bulbs had a lt more intensity; like a 250W DE ushio measures out in PPFD like an iwasaki 400W. If it's true, I'm happy because I bought the ushio mogule bulbs.
