I'm trying to get ideas for lighting a 20L. I see mostly 2x55 watt is used but I was thinking about MH.
Would a 150 or 175 MH pendant be enough to light a 20L? Even the edges?
I was thinking since they are only 12" tall that would be plenty. What wattage would you recommend?

I am moving my nano from a 20 l to a 29 so I cankeep the hood and stand. You could do t-5's or VHO easily. I had 4 x 75 watt VHO over my 20 long for a bit till the heat broke the lamp rack. Since it's such a shallow tank t5s would work well for softies, lps and probably montipora too. The color is great too - only problem is bulbs are expensive.

I had a 250W on my 29 for a while and it was great! The heat was quite an issue even without a hood, though. I had to keep two fans directed at the water while the light was running. I had the pendant about 10 inches off the water.

I have 3x65watt PC on my 20L. Two 10,000K and one 03 actinic. It gives a really nice color and I am getting constant growth from my sps frags.
They stay cool and are inexpensive compared to MH.
