I am trying to get everything planned for the arrival of my new tank. I am trying to get the placement of the fish perfect so I do not have to go fishing to change tanks.
So, far, this is what I have.
180 g This is a FOWLR (maybe mushrooms and GSP)
Coral Beauty
Lemonpeel Angel (Will be a new fish)
Mimic Lemonpeel (Chocolate) Tang - 5.5
Powder Blue Tang (Will be a new fish)
Hippo Tang (5 inches)
Koran Angel (currently only about 2 inches)
Goby/Prawn Pair
120 g (This is my existing Reef with mostly softies)
Maroon Clown pair
Mandarin Pair
Royal gramma
Lawnmower Blenny
Flame angel
Purple tang
55 g clam tank This is an existing clam / SPS / LPS tank
Yellow Coris Wrasse
black clown pair
Goby/ Prawn Pair
Yellow tang (VERY small guy)
29 g =This is an existing reef with mostly zoos and mushrooms (Goby is being moved here (from 120) so that there will not be the competition for critters with mandarins)
Longnose Hawk
Goby/Prawn Pair
Ocellaris Pair
Engineer goby
Changed up the placement based on some advise from folks, AGAIN. I would still love to hear any input. In the 29 g will the young longnose hawk be okay with a goby that lives in the sand or is the goby lunch in a few months?
I am sure there are also other things that I missed. Please, enlighten me!
Thanks!
Misti

Misti - my comments in bold on your stocking these tanks.
180 g This is a FOWLR (maybe mushrooms and GSP)
Coral Beauty
Flame Angel
Lemonpeel Angel you may do ok with this many dwarf angels in a big tank - still may have some fights in the beginning
Purple tang
Mimic Lemonpeel (Chocolate) Tang
Powder Blue Tang Good luck with all these tangs, if you drop them all in together might work, purple and powder blue may seriously come to blows over territory
Koran Angel
Maroon Clown Pair - You will have issues with the female maroon eventually being very aggressive in a tank with this many fish
Goby/Prawn Pair
120 g (This is my existing Reef with mostly softies)
Yellow Tang
Hippo Tang
Black Clown pair
Ocellaris Clown Pair
Mandarin Pair
Royal gramma
Lawnmower Blenny
55 g clam tank This is an existing clam / SPS / LPS tank
Yellow Coris Wrasse
clown pair
engineer goby - If you have your clams up on rocks fine but these guys make a BIG mess!
Goby/ Prawn Pair - Ditto here - messy shrimp, likes to dig.
29 g =This is an existing reef with mostly zoos and mushrooms
Longnose Hawk
Goby/Prawn Pair
And on the Bangaii's - they will school only until two decide to pair off and then they will harass and / or kill the others. I would keep a close eye on them as they mature.

How big are your tangs? I'd be worried about the purple beating up on the powder blue. I think the angels will be find if they have enough places to call their own.

The 2 gobies have been in the clam tank, with clams, for a few months. They like to dig in the back and not in the front. There have not been any probs, yet. The only new inhabitiant here is a switch in the clowns.

The Mimic Lemonpeel Tang is the current aggressor. He has been in the 120 since it was set up. He really hated it when I put the Purple Tang in the 120 with him and the Hippo. The Mimic gets along wonderfully with the Hippo tang, but the Mimic needs more space and the Hippo gets bullied by the Angels. So I figured that seperating them might meet their individual needs more. The Purple is aggressive towards the Hippo, VERY aggressive. And the Powder Blue will be a new fish, as will the yellow. Right now all of these are fairly young, small fish. I think that I will rethink the clown placement and keep clowns out of the 180 for load purposes.
I had a school of B Cardinals in El Paso and they were gorgeous, but the tank was only set up for little over a year. Maybe they did not have the chance to mature enough to get mean.....

The Hippo and Powder blue are too similar in shape and could start fighting.

MikeP - that's interesting about the Bangaii's - I have wanted to buy a small school as well, but did not know that. Thanks.

Jenn,
O picked up 2 Benghaii at TX Tropical tonight. They have them for about $12.99. Not a bad price for a LFS.

Dan,
Right now I have the 120, 55-ish clam, 29, 16, and 2-6 or 7 g bowfronts. For the most part they are self-regulating. I have to do very little other than feed and a 1 a month-ish water change. Right now I make up a 50 gallon change a month to distribute among the tanks, changing more in one if it looks unhappy. Thank goodness they seem to take care of themselves. I am a little worried about the upkeep on this 180 I am getting since it will be a FOWLR and have no refugium.
Henry- Thanks!!!!!!!

None of my female maroons are aggressive. They only do a little chasing if someone decides to camp in their territory. Sometimes they will even share their cave or haunt with a copperband.
The 180 is large enough for those fish. A maroon will only protect its cave and about one cubic foot to a foot and a half of that area. It may not work in a 55 or 70, but, I would go for it in the 180 without hesitation. Especially with those fish as they are very active normally.

Jenn,
AA has some too, but I'm not sure on the price. You might want to look there too.

I have a Medium Powder Blue and a smallish Hippo in a 125 together with no problems. They went in together at about the same time. I think one thing you have working to your adavantage is that if you are moving a lot of fish around at the same time they are going to be moving to new "teritories" and aren't going to be as territorial. I have a feeling you are going to have to move a lot of LR to get all these guys out and this too will work to your advantage. They are going to be confused and not sure where they are and less territorial. As a result thay may more readily accept other tank inhabitants. Just my theory but based on my own experience and what I have read I think it has some validity. What do the rest of ya'll think?
