I was wondering what type of paint to use and what color to paint the back of the tank. Any suggestions????

Color is a matter of preference. I prefer black as it help to add depth and bring out the color of the fish and corals. I used latex and a roller to apply to my tank. If you haven't setup your tank you can use spray paint. Just be sure to mask off the trim and places where you don't want paint.

I also used latex. I put 3 coats of blue and then toped that off with 2 coats of black. Worked real good and looks nice.

I used flat black spray paint on the back of mine (outside) and it looks awesome... really clean and neat... Also it makes the fish and rocks stand out more vividly... and if I really wan to me can remove it with a razor... And most of all it looks good for cheap!! :) All for Smeagol!!

most of tanks i have taken them over to a buddy's house and sandblasted the back glass just a bit and then taped them off real well and used spray paint.

ive used both black and blue and i prefer the blue myself, it gives the aquarium a much brighter look to it and i think it makes the room its in a bit brighter as well.

hope it helps, steve

You can become a charter member by paying money to Misti. Its kinda like a bribe to be first in line cause she has all the zoos. J/K!
Membership is $25 and you can see Misti before the meeting starts. I think there is a post in the announcements section about membership (top of the forum index).

I use an interior latex paint as well on my tank. Three or four coats. I like the blue.

I've got the cheapest And easiest yet! I took a couple of pieces of black poster board, cut them to size, then carefully taped them to the tank. You can't tell from any angle that it's not painted, and it looks nice too. There's the added bonus that should I want to change color, or the poster board gets wet or something, I can easily change it out. Just my two cents.
