I want to use this in my nano http://www.lightsofamerica.com/floods.htm
I already have a plan for cooling, I want to know would this support my condy and maybe a few beginner corals later on.

No, They don't put out enough light, and not in the right spectrum. They support caulerpa barely and grow hair great. They corrode fast and will be a dissapointment to you after a short period of time. We have probably all tried them and they just don't get the results. Buy aquarium lighting. Try www.hellolights.com for a good deal or www.premiumaquatics.com. Very respectable companies and great prices.

Excellent choice! In fact I am putting 2 of the 96 quads on my 32 gallon nano tank that I just set up.

For what its worth, I used one on the 65watt loa fixtures on my 10gal nano along with 2-13watt pc antinic bulbs. I completely removed the ballast and bulb from the fixture and made my own hood. It worked for about 1yr before the ballast died.

It worked or the actinics worked? Hmmmmm... I don't know the answer...... The LOA didn't work that great for me. I don't think there is a cheap way around lighting, but I could be wrong.

I have read a few articles and I have heard a good mix of opions, so I will just play it safe and get the 20" 1x96W Coralife Aqualight CF hood w/ Quad 50/50 -Square Pin(http://www.hellolights.com/201xcoaqpcho.html). What local stores have them? I have seen them at Aquatek for about $150

I've tried the LOA lights and didn't have much luck with them. As you said, some people do well with them and others don't. I'm not sure about Austin, but a couple of places sell the Coralife fixtures here in S.A. - Alamo Aquatics and Texas Tropical. I got mine (96w quad fixture) from Alamo (with tax came out to same as ordering online plus shipping) and use it on my refugium.

If I had to do it all over again I would go with a fixture specifically designed for this hobby. The LOA worked great, but the color without antinics was a bit yellow like iwasakis. Go with that 96watt unit its really nice.

I used the LOA for a while on a 75. The millepora coral grew, though not brightly colored. I supplimented with actinics. The LOA rusted out after a while and grew a lot of macro algae quite well. Other than that, they would be good yard lights. I think Tim is right, there's just no cheap way around lights thats worth much.

I have an old 16mm camera light from the 70s that puts out hellacious light and heat.
I wonder if that would do anything for the tank?
