Does the center section of the hood lift up to? Your previous pics only showed the outside sections hinged.

That is correct gary the center does not lift becaust there is a center brace in the tank.

Robert,
I hope your arms are longer than mine. I'd never be able to reach the center area if I had to get in there and move something or do some cleaning without taking off the hood.

the center section is going to be open for the most part and ill have two reefs one on each side of the tank .(my wife wants a place for the fish to swim in this one!!!)lol

OK, so you'll just have substrate in the middle. I guess you could still put some corals there. Something like an open brain or plate that wants to be on substrate.
That's the problem I'm having. My plate and open brain are getting so big I don't have enough open space on the substrate for them. I'm particularly worried that my brain is going to get "bruised" on some LR.

i would say i could give him a home in a few months but im going with all sps as ill have some angels, etc. in the tank and my sons tank is only a 40B and is packed with LR from my old 110.

Hey I was just wondering where you found the wood for your hood? I'm thinking of building one for my tank and can only find oak in 6" widths and 24" lenghts at home depot.

i bought every piece from home depot .. like i said i had to cut all the main pieces out of a sheet of 4x8 plywood laminated with oak. all the trim is solid 1x3 oak that i had to router, etc...
