When I was scrubing the algae off the glass, this little stinker just followed my hand as it moved across the glass cute as can be. But then he started to bite me over and over, the first few times is was like a soft pinch but after a while it felt like a real pinch. I had to stop clean, I was wondering if any of yall have had this same expirence.

Killer clownfish eh? When's the last time you fed the poor guy? lol, just kidding! What kind of clown is it? I've had other fish come up and give my hand a little pinch before, but not my clowns. They won't come up around my hand unless I have food in it.

My clowns do that to me. I usuallly just chase them around and they stop. I had the meanest little perculas. They did not start doing that until the dominant one became female.

My oscellaris do that when I'm working in theit tank. They become more aggressive the closer I get to their anemone. They're just protecting their host like the're supposed to.

yikes!!! yano, ur clownfish are hereby officially banned from being friends or even meeting my lionfish!!! i dont want that sort of bad attitude transferring over to the zebras! can u imagine??? id be coming to the meetings with bandages all over my arms! LOL!!!
id have to agree with gary, im sure its just a defense mechanism, afterall u are working in close proximity to their home seeing as how u keep a 10 gal.
take kare, steve
[Edit]or you could go to ur lfs and pick u up one of those magnetic algae scrubbers. worked wonders for me and kept my hands nice and dry(and out of the fishs' mouths :-D )

Oh yeah, Mine were also in a ten gallon and were the only fish. I've had several pairs in larger tanks that won't attack at all.

If your hand is in a 10 gal. you're in their territory, ipso facto.

captexas: He is a percula
robertpower3:I tried chaseing mine away, even put some food in their but he just would not stop
Funny thing about this clown, I got him at Petco he was in a display tank and looked the best out of all the ones in the store. I asked the guy if I could have the one in the tank, he said yes but did not know what kind it was so I got it for $10 :D Petco does have some good people working their sometimes, it just depends on wich one you go to and what day of the week it is.

If you got it from Brodie lane Petco those are the clowns I'm talking about . I set that eclipse tanks up about a year and a half ago and then I transferred stores. The two percs that were in there were there for about a year and a few months if i remember right. They were mean as hell. :-D

My female ocellaris bites me quite frequently, especially if I go anywhere near her anemones (pulsing xenia).

My clownfish are well socialized, but my Royal Gramma bites hard** and is very territorial. I did watch a clownfish bite a fishstore employee one time when the employee got too close too his anemone. The guy chased the clownfish around with his finger flicking at it and talking to it -- it was very funny.

My maroons and both sets of perculas attack me. The maroons are even in a 120. The female attacks the glass when she sees my face near it, too! The perculas only attack if I get close to their host or to their mate.
