After setting up my fuge next to my main tank it became full of these little guys that look like tiny shrimp from the shapes. There are a few pods that I recognize from pictures but not these things. Like I said they look like very tiny shrimp. Back of tail section is shaped like a shrimp and fron head area is just like one.

Added pic below in the thread.

Thanks,
Cliff

Does it look like this? If so it is a Mysid shrimp. And can I get some. j/k

That is exactly what I was thinking also, and yes they look just like that but very small. They cover my rockwork in the main tank darting in and out of holes. There are a few dead ones floating around in the fuge (I'm guessing they didn't make it through the pump well). I might see if I can get a magnifying glass and take a look at one of the dead ones closer. Since the fuge only has one piece of rock in it and a couple of small frags they are all over the place in it though, espcially around the rock. Like I said though, there are hundreds of them in there.

Thats cool. They are a great food source. Mandarin gobies love these little guys.

Yeah, I picked up a mandarin about a month ago but he didn't appear to make it. I'm thinking my serpent star may have finished off what was left of him. He hasn't bothered anything as far as killing it, but he will take care of anything once it is already dead. I may try another one again later when I have more time.

I've had one for about 6months. He was pretty skinny when I got him, but he is now nice and plump.

My serpent star's a cannibal too. I've had maybe 3 or 4 nassarius snails dissappear probly from him. About a month ago I ordered 7 scarlet hermits and only 2 are alive today

I bought two small scarlet hermits about 6 months ago and he hasn't bothered them, but they are sporting really nice nassarius shells now. Little buggers will kill any small snail I put in the tank. I'm thinking of banishing them into the fuge.

May be my two hermits that are goin after the nassarius also

If they have though, they haven't gone for the shells which is kinda weird

Here is the best pic I could get of the guy. I sharpened it a bit to try and help it out some. This is a picture off of the front glass.

Was that in your large tank? Did you know he was there or was that a hitchhiker. I remember the harlequin star in your smaller tank.

brewcm, that pic you posted is definitely a mysis shrimp. They are great to have in your tank.
did you know hat they only carry one baby at a time? It is born a tiny little shrimp. Makes you wonder where they all came from knowing that, right? The point is that a wrasse or mandarin can eat them faster than they can reproduce in most tanks even though they tend to be nocturnal and retiring to caves and holes.

Cool, I never really got a good look at them in the main tank because of all the rock work. I really only saw them at night but now in the fuge there's hundreds of them. They must reproduce like crazy then once they get going.
