I'm curious about feeding cyclop-eeze. I have heard several of you talking positively about it and would like to give it a try.

Would anyone with a tax number be interested in setting a group order for cyclop-eeze and DT's? Because of the high retail cost of both of these products I think that both could be good candidates for group orders. We could possibly coordinate such an order with a meeting so that pick-up would be easier.

I have not tried cyclop-eeze yet. Some people call it crack for corals. The houston club did a group order a while back you might check www.marshreef.org and see if they will give you a lead.

Also I seem to remember CB Pets selling it - you may want to try there. I'm planning on picking some up if i ever get down that way again.

Austin Aquadome has it also.
I bought some about a week ago. Seems like good stuff, corals were looking really happy. Nice polyp extension.

Mike,

MARSH is where I got the idea from. SueT, who I think is a member here as well, posted something on the CD forum about their group order. It sounds like they got the frozen stuff instead of the freeze dried material available at the LFS. I checked the Cyclop-eeze website and the frozen stuff is only available in a size (8 X 750 gm) that is suited for commercial aquariums like Sea World. SueT, in her post on CD, said they got a huge block of it and then split it up.

I'll do the order for you guys and gals if you send me the link to set up an account. Is it www.cyclopeeze.com?

I'd really like to get some DTs this way; I'm sick of buying expensive small bottles near the expiration dates at the local places.

I have been using this for about a week now. My corals love this stuff! I have never seen my corals react this way to anyother typen of food!

i bought a sm. bar from cb pets just to tryout, i think maybe somewhere around $15.00 for 100 grams. i didn't want to get a big 750 gram if it was all hype about this stuff. corals reacted well with polyps extension and fish really wanted these little guys.

can order through jehmco and cyclopeeze, they give a pretty good quantity break.

8 x 750 gram(1.6lb) for roughly $22.00ea. plus shipping

We sell the freezer bar (3oz I thnk) for $12.99. These are cut from the large 1.6lb blocks. Of course the larger blocks are more economical per oz but just be warned that a little goes a very long way with this stuff.

I highly recommend this food and really I don't understand why it is not more popular, highly nutritious and just about everything loves it. I would not get the freeze dried stuff though. It is a fractured organism plus it would tend to float, stick with the frozen stuff. Just as an FYI, cyclop-eeze is the first biologically engineered & commercialized copepod...I don't think it even has a scientific name just cyclop-eeze. It's owned by Argent Labs.

Well, I'm going to try some of that from Richard tomorrow. If its that good, then I'm going to want in if you do a group order. I know I need something better than the smelly DT's that we get around here. Richard, do you have any good DT's that you guys shake up now and then?

I think it might be a good idea to wait a couple of weeks until right before the next meeting. Maybe we can do a Cyclop-eeze and DT's order at the same time.

We quit carrying DT's. It sounds simple enough to shake it up now and then but we weren't very good at remembering to do it either, so we decided to just quit carrying it rather than selling rotten phyto. If some of the SA area folks want to do a group order(prepaid) I can get it for you at a heavily discounted price, just let me know what size and how many and I'll check on what kind of price I can do.

Richard, I was going to ask if you would mind doing a larger order of both DTs and cyclop-eeze for members. It could be a pre-paid thing so you're assured not to get stuck with a large inventory. Maybe you could get the larger size cyclop-eeze and we could split this up and put it in baggies. I'd be happy to take a large container or two of DTs and a decent quantity of cyclop-eeze if the price is right.

Does the cyclop eeze work on Africans also? I have some cichlids that could benifit from it.

Haven't heard of this stuff. I am definitely in for a prepaid order through CB Pets...especially since they are just minutes away from mi casa.

Joshua, I got some cyclop-eeze from CB Pets today. I tried it on the 7 month old clown tank that I crashed after they got fed their regular food. They ate it. Even my 18 month old maroon in my 125 ate it as did the clown gobies. Can't say the little babies were excited over it, but then they don't get excited about much. Maybe in the morning when they are hungry they'll go nuts. From hearing everyone talk about it, I sure didn't get that kind of reaction from the fish.

I would be interested in this stuff. Jeff I think some of your fish might like this, maybe those puppy dog acting trophies(sp?)

I just got finished reading their on-line catalog so I could find out what the heck you people were talking about :? I definitely want in on the order.
The idea of right before the meeting sounds good to me as well.

Finally a true zooplankton!!! I got a good look at the little frozen critters today while my fish were chowing down and they are clearly a little shrimp like thing. Larger than baby brine, smaller than daphnia and from what the lit says, the red color is from xantanthin pigments. That will bring the colors of all fish out more. The larger fish didn't go for it because of its size. Cyclop-eeze is NOT a phytoplankton and will not substitue for DT's for filter feeders as some authors have suggested. Larger cyclids probably will ignore it as my copperbands did b/c its too small. My 5 and 7 month old goldstripped maroon babies, mostly flake raised, loved it this morning! If you have smaller fish, gorgonians and any plankton feeders like anthias, you should try the cyclop-eeze.
I'm in for an order on both as well.

Well I have to order cyclop-eeze for the store next week so how about this deal for "Official Maast Members ONLY!".

Cyclop-eeze(any size) at $1 over cost + shipping + 8.25% (for big brother)

So if the cost for the larger bock is $30 then your cost would be $31 + some shipping + tax + if you like it you tell everyone it's available at CB Pets. Shipping on my normal order is $20 which I will deduct from whatever the total shipping cost is. I'll do the same deal on DT's but it is from a different supplier and I probably won't order from them until the week after thanksgiving. I haven't ordered from this supplier for a while but I think the delivery charge is only $10. The one thing I really don't have alot of is Time, so if someone would volunteer to be the point person on how much and what size to order it would be very helpfull. I'll check on pricing monday.

It usually takes several feedings before some of larger fish figure out that something so small is food. I've had larger butterflys, tangs etc. go for it though the larger predator type fish never take. They usually smell it and just swim around trying to figure out where the food is.

It is a great supplement for african cichlids as well. We feed it several times a week to all SW & FW fish except for the big predators of course. I have not tried it on Tropheus sp. and would recommend you feed it sparingly to them (if at all) since they are primarily vegetarians and very prone to bloat. I feed my personal tropheus tank Exotic Tropicals Krill Plus & Sprirulina Max (50/50 mix) flakes only.
