Jim and I are setting up cubes. I'll have a 20 inch cube and Jim a 24 inch cube. They will run on sand, LR, mag 5 on closed loop with SQWD. I'm running a canister with the fritz chiller/heater and a 96watt PC quad near a window for some natural sun light. Jim is useing 3 65w PC and no filter, but possibly a small hang on skimmer. Of course routine water changing will be done.. We are going to find as many different types of ricordia as we can so if anyone knows a place for really spectacular ricordia let us know.
Any thoughts? Comments? on the set-ups?

Sounds interesting. What type of supplement(if any) and food do you plan on using? Also what is the ultimate goal, is it to compare how the different setups will affect growth?

Good luck and keep us posted

Possibly, but mostly because we just want different ricordia isolated from the sps. I don't plan to dose exceept maybe kalk.

I;ve always wanted to start an ricordia tank! Blowfishaquatics.com has some great florida ricordia and some yumas from time to time. They also have a wait list for red yumas since I think they have the best price for them (around 60 per polyp) as opposed to trying to get one on ebay for 210 dollars per polyp. coralsandbar.com has some great ricordias also (great yumas) but they are pricey.

DrMacCorals has some very unusual colors right now.

Tim, why would you dose Kalk for ricordia??

Blane Perun's thesea.org has some nice ricordia. I am working on trying to get him to become a sponsor. And he does give group order discounts for clubs.

Joshua,

I lived about an hour from Palmetto until last April. Now I find out about it! Oh well....

Tim,
For the best selection, try collecting your own. I see alot of them in Jim's tank. Or if you're willing to do more work, try scuba diving in Florida. I saw an old ARK Marketplace post where you listed rock full of blue ricordea for $40, do you still have any for sale. J/K

Thanks for all the good sites, but I may have just obtained a source this afternoon. I'll keep you posted in case some others want to get in on them. They will probably run like $10 a polyp. $25 for the hot pink ones if they show up.

Alex, I am hoping. I certainly won't be pulling those prices for them though. I guess I should say we since Jim and I will be going in together on this venture. Nice pictures!

Are they a problem in a reef tank?

No they are fine, but I would like to keep them separate from a bunch of other corals.

OK I am upgrading to 2-96watt quads over it. I'll make a shelf/cave for the ricordia and do small acro frags on top within inches of the smartlights. Any thoughts?
