Hi,
What kind of paint should I use to paint the back of my aquarium? Should I use a paint brush, or spray paint? I'm going for blue color.

Same here, just painted the back of both of mine and used latex with roller. Took several coats to look good.

I just took the easy route and bought the false black/blue background.

Just for reference I use spray paint.
The color is Ford Engine Block Blue, it can be bought at any automotive store. I stole this tid bit from GARF.

If I sealed the top of my tank would it be safe to paint it while it was in use. I would latex paint with a roller. What do you think?

latex does not off gas like oil bases so you will be ok just don't drop any in the tank.

Robert,
I painted my 75 gallon without emptying it, I used a roll on latex though.

On my tank I used a static cling window tint. It's limo tint so you can't even tell it's tint and not paint.

Oh yeah, and if you wanna sell your tank later on all you gotta do is peel it right off

I used a blue spray paint with metallic speckles in it. Looks great. I bought the paint at Home Depot for about $3.50 a can and used 2 cans to cover the back of my 180g.
