Where do you put a leather? Does it go on the sand? Or up on the rocks? Just curious.....

I dont think it matters too much, as long as it has good flow, and good lighting.

Where it is happy! :-D

Seriously, I have mine mounted on a rock and sitting on the sand. BUT...I have 2-400w MH over a 75g tank. So depending on your lighting situation you may need to place your's higher in the tank.

Mine is also constantly swaying in the current to keep it clean. It's polyps are extended 80% of the time. The only time I had a problem with it not extending was when it was too close to my maze brain. At night apparently the brain would open and it's 5" tentacles would "reach out and touch someone." I noticed my leather had tiny little brown spots on it. When I moved the leather away from the brain it only took about a week for the leather to recover and now looks better than ever!

Alex, What kind is it? Some need to up-current from acropora, some need high light and current, others low. You need to have a leather attach to a rock. It won't attach to sand and you can't glue it.

You can use bridal veil (large mesh) and a rubber band to hold a leather onto a rock until it attaches.

its a nean green leather from IPSF. Irts mounted to a shell, like a half clam. I put it halfway up in between my 2 lights, bout halfway up the tank.

That should be plenty high enough in your tank. Is it a spaghetti leather?
