There's a new shop in San Antonio located at:

Aquatic Warehouse
10852 Gulfdale
San Antonio, TX 78216
ph# 210-348-7004
link to map (http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=FoAODup_0Tp_b0tELEJS1XlpXhZkJtk-&csz=san+antonio%2C+tx&country=us)

Which is near the airport (281 - outside 410)

They open up on Saturday (tomorrow) although I don't know at what time exactly.

From the words of the owner:
The store will specialize in saltwater fish and corals, but we will also begin a comprehensive SPS coral propagation program (Customers will also have the opportunity to trade).

If you're able to make it over there, mention you found out about them through MAAST and encourage them to participate and be active on our forums. ;)

I know that area by the airport. I'm sure the rent is cheap, but I think the poor access to that area will hurt them. They better do some advertising! I'll check it out though for sure.

By the way, whatever happened to that store someone said was going to open on Nacogdoches Rd. by Tom's Ribs? I never saw anything over there to begin with other than a pet grooming shop.

i'll have togo check'em out as well.

the other place by tom's ribs is still in the works. i briefly spoke to the owner and he's hoping to get open pretty soon. he does have some tanks set-up in there, but still needs alot more work and money to go.

just stopped by the new place. the owners seems tobe a nice guy and knowledgeable. nothing fancy since he's still in the process of cycling and set-up tanks. he did have some corals mainly LPS and a some fish at very good prices. a few powder blue tangs at only $30.00 wow!!! and they were nice and plump eating grape calu. and no ick. i did mention maast to him and seemed very interested in being a part of the forum we'll see. his interest are heavy into corals as he personally has sps tank and will begin propagated pretty soon. it's not that really hard to find, so it's worth taking alook and mention maast.

also for people wanting b-ionic he has quite a few bottles, not sure on the price.

I just thought I would post a report on Aquatic Warehouse. They definitely liked what I saw but as was mentioned earlier they have a lot of work to do. I was impressed with the prices and quality of their livestock. They have a very limited supply of dry goods and foods as of now. I tried to look at its potential as a LFS rather than "as is."

Contrary to what was said earlier they do not have powder blue tangs for $30. Apparently the price was mismarked earlier today. The price was $49 which was still not bad for the size and quality of the powder blues. As a matter of fact I bought one. They are going to be increasing their coral selection. Apparently they have some shipments coming in this week. They did have some nice softies and interesting LPS. Apparently they have an agent that is "cherry picking" livestock from several wholesalers. They will be selling RO and SW and will be carrying LS within the next few weeks. They are not yet able to accept credit cards or checks. I was told that is supposed to happen on Monday. I had to make a run to a local ATM as everything is on a cash only basis right now.

I added my name to their email mailing list and they are asking for input from customers as to what they should stock. Apparently there are two partners that are runnning the shop. I believe one of them is a MAAST member but am not sure. I discussed MAAST with the person who was there (name???). He seemed very open to my suggestions as to what I would like to see in a LFS. I found that somewhat refreshing. He said they would be open to the idea of hosting a MAAST meeting and it would seem like they would have the room to do it if everyone brought a folding chair.

OK, if anyone has any questions let me know.

I also stopped by Aquatics Warehouse today. They will be recieveing a coral shipment on Tues, the guy I talked to was named Tamer, don't know if that is spelled right. I believe the B ionic was about 25.00 for both. I.O. salt was 39.00. Prices on corals that they had were pretty good compared to our other LFS's. They are in the process of setting up a frag propagation tank, said frags woud go for 5.00-25.00 depending on size and type of frag. He also told me his tank at home was I believe, 450gal with a 300gal sump, definatly not a beginer, like myself. IMO we have a winner with this new store, stop by and tell them about MAAST and maybe soon we will get discounts on thier already low prices. BTW picked up agood size Caulastrea,"candy, trumpet" frag for 9.00

This new store sounds awesome. I'm glad to hear they're going to be carrying SPS corals as well. I don't think I'll be able to stop by for a couple of weeks so those of you who get a chance to drop by please keep posting your impressions about this new store.

I stopped by yesterday and was impressed. Although there location isn't very good I think those of us out there who just want a good LFS won't really care and it allows them to have lower overhead. Considering how long they've been open they seemed to have the best coral selection in town already and I thought there prices were very reasonable. They had some good looking fish as well. Now if they could just get the SPS tank running...

I went by on Tuesday and as everyone has said, it's just beginning to get up and running. I purchased a coral beauty for cheap compared to other places. I also purchased a large colt and a leather toadstool from them. Their prices are dirt cheap for the size of the coral compared to other places in town. I hope these prices remain the way they are and not increase any time soon. I am sure this is where my wife will be shopping for my Christmas gifts. Now all I have to do is show her how to get there!!

I am in the process of stocking my tank. I hope to go by there sometime in the next month. Anybody know their hours. In order for me to be able to buy fish and corals from there, they have to be open on Sunday as I am living out of town and ther fro the weekend only.

I just went by there today and they were closed. I think the owners may still be working day jobs because their hours are somewhat limited. Here is their schedule.

Sat - Sun : 12-5:00
Tue - Fri: 4-8:00
closed Mondays

maybe some of you remeber I-10 aq. or pet of the sea. they opened mid afternoon till 9:00 after finishing up working in their chinese restraunts next door. they are however closed up, although there are always talks of POS opening back up. i think it was just an outlet for them just to get out of their regular routine, but they must of got tired of not making money or something.

Ray, is his buddy still open on Nacogdoches? I think it was Arawana or something? I know they ordered stuff together and maybe had some other business connections. I just moved back to SA and am still trying to catch up on stuff that is going on at the LFS's here.

Ah, my first post on a new forum. Just doesn't feel quite like the very first time! posting that is...

Anyway, I'm just starting the investigation and education process for conversion to a reef after having freshwater tanks for most of the 90's.

Read about Aquatic Warehouse here at 6:45 tonight - called - open still - put shoes back on and zoomed over - just 10 minutes away.

Had a nice 45 minute chat with Tamer Aly. Seems helpful and very willing to help from a newbie POV.

Actually more impressed with this new operation than I was with 2 other established SA stores that I visited last weekend. Could be I'm just not impressed with places that appear rundown and neglected. <shrug>

Anyway, as I gain more knowledge I'm sure that I'll have lots of questions.

Best to all this holiday season.

Welcome Leo!

Aquatic Warehouse is a great store and the owners are very helpful! Ivan taught me how to acclimate my first fishy!! yeah~I am more proud that the fish is still living ;) . I was so nervous, being the newbie that I am, but he walked me through everything. Of course I forgot everything he said and had to bug a few people on MAAST but he was very professional and helpful!

WAY TO GO AQUATIC WAREHOUSE!!!
