The tank tour is pretty much ready to go! We have a total of seven volunteers to host for the tour. The tour will be on Sunday, November 2nd. You'll find two web links below....the first link will take you to the tank tour website, where you'll be able to click to access tour host information, including driving directions to the host's homes. The second link will allow you to download the tank tour "brochure" information, so you can take it with you when you go touring on Sunday!
I'm still waiting on some late information from Adaminaustin, and some tank photos from one other host, but otherwise we've got about everything completed. Only one nagging question really remains....How should the tours be scheduled? :?
There are about as many different ways to schedule the tour as there are tanks to view! But a scheduling conflict for one of the hosts may have provided us with our best alternative. As it turns out, there are THREE host homes in south Austin, THREE in Cedar Park (Northwest of Austin), and one in Round Rock (my house, which is actually only a few blocks from Jim Norris' place). One of the south Austin hosts is not able to open his home until later in the morning than we were hoping to start things off. Soooo....what we're going to recommend here (and I'm going to be contacting the southside hosts tomorrow...or they can PM me) is that we save the southside homes for the hours AFTER the MAAST meeting adjourns (say 4:30 or 5:00 until about 7:00). This would allow everyone to visit the Northside tanks in the morning, go to the meeting, and then stop by the southside homes (while several of us are on our way back toward San Antonio). The four northside homes would be visited from approximately 10:00 until about 1:30. The meeting starts at 2:00.
This split would also give some of the tour hosts an opportunity to see at least a FEW of the other tanks, and would also allow for at least SOME "caravan" touring (several people have suggested the tour be conducted in caravan fashion...this would allow for individuals to organize their touring in just such a way). At any rate, we'll be confirming the time of day information for the tour in the next two or three days....and we'll have it all nailed down before the end of the week.
This first link is for the website. It should also allow you to view and print copies of maps (courtesy of Yahoo maps) for driving directions to each tank hosts' home.

Thanks SO much to everyone who has helped to get this first tour off the ground (TIm M, Jim N., and Aaron P.). Also many MANY thanks to the brave souls who have volunteered as tour hosts! I hope everyone voices their appreciation as they visit homes on Sunday!
Now, PLEASE take advantage of this great opportunity and get out there and see some really nice set-ups! As always, please send me any comments or questions via PM here, or call me at home. I'd love to hear from you.
