The tank measures 96 x 30 x30 and is made of 3/4" acrylic.
The back is a blue laminate.

Thanks to Vic, Daniel and Alamo Aquatics for all their help specially Chris Medrano.

It's going to take my RODI 4 days to fill it up at 100 GPD :-D .

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!! Who made your stand?

Thanks guys.

Yes Mike, this will be a FOWLR tank.

Jenn, Aquatrend made the stand but don't think it came like that. The stand has had alot of TLC since I got it. I stained it, added a a 3/4 plywood for the top and bottom and made holes for the overflow. They do make good stands though at a reasonable price.

Cool tank, I remember seeing the stand at alamo. Good thing you got the extra bracing on the stand. Congrats and good luck.

Uhh? Is there a hole cut in the top over the overflows? It looks like it would be impossible to get in there....

BTW, Looks awesome, how many people did it take to lift it?

Good eye Josh.

Mathias, it would run you about $3,200 for the tank and the stand only with shipping. If you don't get the blue insert it's $200 dollars less.

Yeah Henry, better safe then sorry.

WiteCap, there is a hole over each overflow. The tank is really well designed which makes keeping an eel very easy since there is no where for it to go.

We had 5 people but only 4 carried it through the door, the tank with pallet weighed 550 lbs therefore I'm guessing it weighed close to 500 without the pallet. What really helped were the suction cups that Chris brought over from Alamo Aquatics they made carrying the tank a breeze.

Nah keep it a FO - that tank would be awesome with a few big angels and some tangs.

You could do a few carpet sharks too - or a bunch or triggers. What are you planning on stocking it with?

A lionfish and eel could get huge in that thing.

Did someone say eel? Here's an eel that won't loose their value.

Yea that is a massive tank. So are you adding a canopy to that? Type of lighting?

Wow I wish I had the room for something like that. Once I get settled!!!!

Well My girlfriend has the "fish" list but I remember most of them which are:

Pair of Maroon Clowns
Port Jackson Shark or Leopard Shark
An Eel not sure which one yet.
(3) Yellow Tangs or a Yellow Tang and a Sailfin Tang
Bi-Color Blenny
Algae Blenny
Flame HawkFish
Clown Trigger
Naso Tang or maybe a Sohal Tang at the end.

Best part is that my girlfriend said the tank looked "small", I guess with the 720 still sitting in the garage it makes anything else look small but that's good. I can see an upgrade in the future already :D .

As far as a canopy, my girlfriend wants me to buy one but I don't recall seeing many acrylic tanks with a canopy. What do you guys think should I get a canopy for it ? It would make the tank look nicer but It would scratch where it sits, which won't be a big deal since it won't be seen.

Jose....I would love to be able to see it up & running when you get there. Beautiful tank. I know you're itching to get it going. LOL The 720 is still in the garage? hehe :skeezy:

Yup the 720 is still in the garage, but hopefully they will pick it up next week since my Dog is pregnant and I need to put her in the garage.

I thinking it will be a few months before the tank is up but I'll let everyone know.

Jose - just a couple of comments on your stocking:

Port Jackson Shark or Leopard Shark - you do know that leopards are a temperate to cool water species? They don't do well at reef temperatures not to mention the size issue. I have that book on Aquarium sharks and rays if you want to borrow it and see what one would be best for your tank.

Clown Trigger - keeping these with any fish is iffy long term but with sharks and an eel they will likely take samples from the shark at least a few times and maybe killing it if it's small enough. I wouldn't put any fish in with this trigger you aren't prepared to have killed in a few years when it goes psycho. Just my opinion but wanted to save you a possible scenario to come home to your trigger having massacred everything in your tank!

I have a 7" clown trigger, and I guess he's just handicapped. He doesn't care about anything, unless you get in his hole. Does this mean as he gets older (don't know how old 7" is, but I would figure he's up there) he will get more aggressive?

As for the 720 in the garage have you discused with you wife or girlfriend the beauty of being able to step out french doors on to your back patio.

z28pwr
Fri, 10th Oct 2003, 04:45 PM
I've read about how agressive the clown trigger can be but my girlfriend really wanted it and they were $29.99 at alamo therefore I got one. The trigger is only about an inch and half at the moment and will be the second to the last fish introduced.

I may skip the shark because of this but they do bring alot of life to the aquarium. The EEL I was interested in is the Zebra Moray which is a very peaceful EEL.

I'm glad you brought it up. It's always good to get feedback specially from people with such experience as yourself Mike.

Jenn: 7" Clown trigger would be considered a large size but according to Live Aquaria they can grow up to 20" . Glad yours is behaving. I'd like to see a picture of one that big. It must look great.

Shellback: I tried to convince her into allowing me to make the garage into another room and put french doors in and all that good stuff but she didn't approve it therefore I had to downsize :( . Oh well it will be a little easier to manage the 375 .

I ordered one for a 2,000 gallon tank once that was 16 inch. What a spectacular site! I could beleive I was actually looking at a 16 inch clown trigger in a home tank! From what I have heard it has drawn blood during feedings. I guess she didn''t let the food go quite fast enough  .

I thought you sold the 720?

Sat, 11th Oct 2003, 11:46 AM
Sherri, I think we need to check into the same clinic. Maybe they will give us a discount on Cozumel withdrawl syndrome. We are planning on going at the end of February or March and this time we will be doing some night dives. Let me know if you see any good specials. I saw some good speacials for october but it was only for Cancun.

Tim, A 2,000 gallon tank in a house WOW that must be huge. And a 16 inch trigger that would definately be a tank bully. Regarding the 720 it was sold about 6 months ago but they haven't picked it up yet. Hopefully they will pick it up next weekend since I need the space.
Do you have any pictures of that 2,000 gallon aquarium ?

Unfortunatly I didn't take pictures. It had the clown, two 4 foot morays, and 3 large lions.

Sherri

Whoa....what a sight that must have been Tim. And this was in a house????

The best time of the year to go to Cozumel is March. Fisherman from all over the world come in - apparently there are mega fish that time of year and you're out of the rainy season. We hardly ever see any specials this time of the year exclusively for Cozumel...only Cancun - which I have no interest. I check the Sunday "Travel" section in the paper every week looking. Sometimes they have better deals leaving from Austin. We did a August deal last year out of Austin for $199 ea. round trip - hotel (Plaza de Brisas) (sp) for 3 days - 4 nights. It was great - It was thru FunJet Tours.

They live in a really expensive part of Austin, Lakeline area, and they actually had 2 tanks built in that were 1,000 gallons each. One ciclid tank and the other was a saltwater predator tank. Pretty awesome. It was in this grand entry way and was a wall between two rooms. Of course on the other side was a huge grand piano. Anyway, it was worth it to go by to acclimate this fish.
