I just love coming home for lunch during the week. All the critters in our tank are at their best between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.. I've attached some pics. Does anyone else experience this mid-day wonder? :D

I set my lights to come on at 6:00PM and to turn off at midnight that way I get to see the best of it by the time I finish with dinner and stuff at 9:00.

That's a good idea about starting the light cycle a little later. If I want to start my actinic bank at, say, 10:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m., should I slowly work the lights to the new schedule, or can I simply change the timers to the desired hours today? Would a sudden three hour shift be harmful to the tank residents?

I don't think they'd mind a 3 hour shift specially since the sun isn't coming out as much as it did in the summer.

I try not to run my lights late at night - between the huge electric bill, mysterious packages arriving at my house every week and the lights my neighbors all think I'm a ganja farmer already !
Nice tank pics - I agree that midday my corals seem to look their best - I have my 2 10ks come on about 10am and stay on till about 5pm and the 20k comes on at noon and stays on till 6:30. I plan on getting some actinics and using those for dawn and dusk in the future but I get to see the tank some later in the evening with the single 20k in the center and it looks amazing :)

My girlfriend's brother is going out with a girl. Her brother is the owner of Luquidlife USA. She said he has a huge tank room. He did have the cops come over for the huge electric bill. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem? Jim and Oliver have high bills. I'm supperised you guys have never had the cops come over to check thing out.

Josh - the room gets a lot of natural sunlight too - I am still trying to figure out a lighting schedule I can do year round - I am trying not to run the halides too long now so that in conjunction with the sunlight I don't get algae blooms.

Does anyonoe have any info on the affects of lengthening and shortening the lighting cycle to mimic the seasons? Or would most of the life be from regions that probably don't experience quite such a swing? Just curious....not that I'd be all that excited about making TIMER adjustments all year long  .
